The First Assembly of God was established in Independence, Kansas in 1933. Since then, we’ve operated in several different buildings, most recently at 2414 North 8th Street, to which we moved in 2010 through the providence of God.

We’re a Holy-Spirit-filled church. We believe in signs, wonders, miracles, the power of prayer, and in winning our city to Christ by spreading the good news of His kingdom.

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” John 15:16 (NKJV)

We are modernizing! New floors in the Sunday School rooms, new ceramic tile in the bathrooms, new paint in many of the rooms, and that was just phase one. We have a long-term vision to pave our north parking lot and build a porte-cochere, replace our air-conditioning system, build an information desk, and change the pews and carpet in our sanctuary. It’s going to take a lot of work and a lot of prayer to make it happen and our church is taking it one step at a time.

“Then the LORD answered me and said, ‘Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.'” Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV)

We’ve seen the Holy Spirit move, people get healed, and God make a way when there was none. We’re excited about what’s next!

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun!  Do you not see it?  I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
